In addition to in-person delivery of literacy training to adults in Huron County, The Centres for Employment and Learning of the Avon Maitland District School Board also offer online literacy, basic and essential skills training to all adults in Ontario. This training is accessible through the LearningHUB (www.learninghub.ca) and is funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD) as the Anglophone lead for e-Channel.

The LearningHUB is a free program providing adults with the opportunity to upgrade reading, writing, math, computer and other essential workplace skills so they can reach their goals. Some of those goals might include the following: upgrading skills in order to be ready to take a Grade 12 credit course, or Grade 12 equivalency diploma test (GED); being better prepared to get a job, or to perform better in an existing job; being more comfortable entering a college, university or apprenticeship program; or just feeling better about themselves and their ability to reach life goals.
Upgrading is available through three flexible learning options. Learners can participate in Live Classes (scheduled for a specific date and time) or Independent Study Courses (available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week). Learners can also register for Blended Study which is a combination of Live Classes and Independent Study Courses. Live Classes are popular with learners who prefer to work in a group. Independent Study is popular with learners who prefer to work on their own (any time of day) at their own pace. All learners are assigned an online practitioner who will lead and support them on their learning path.
This Employment Ontario Program is funded in part by the Government of Canada and
the Government of Ontario and through the Canada-Ontario Job Fund Agreement.
