Employers within the local community actively seek out graduates from the AMDSB PSW program, and all those who aspired to work as PSWs have successfully entered the field. This success owes much to the hands-on guidance provided by Registered Practical Nurses Jean Bennet, Cindy Bigny, and Carrie Van Meeteren. Their mentorship, coupled with supervised placements, equipped the graduates not only with essential skills but also additional certifications in Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) and the St. Charles Feed Course, elevating their employability.
Regardless of whether students entered the PSW program with an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or not, they all earned a valuable 6 secondary school elective credits. These credits count towards their academic transcripts, serving as a beneficial boost for those aiming to achieve an OSSD through this program.
